...we had a busy day on Sunday. We started by trawling through the shops Otrarno (over the Arno) starting with the stalls dripping with gold on the Ponte Vecchio. We had not gotten too far before we had indulged in one piece of jewelery each - in true J & j style neither of them are actually gold. We also went into and out of every bag shop on that side of the Arno as well as all paper shops and drooled over the windows of any shop containing boots. (Should I admit that I'd already bought one bag , the pendant and the paper BEFORE the culture?? - Jen) ![]() |

After fortifying ourselves with lunch (shopping is such hard work) we explored the Palazzo Pitti - room after room after room of paintings hung all up the walls salon style - completely overwhelming. The Caravaggio exhibition was much more accessible - he has a gorgeous way with light and shadow in his art and that of his followers. We look forward to seeing more in the Uffizi. (It is a Pitti that you couldn't be here with us - Jo) It was dark when we emerged and we were a bit surprised by the number of people shopping late in the afternoon. Since this is obviously the correct thing to do at this time in Italy, we felt obliged to participate (see rest of above list).
Plans for Pisa tomorrow (and perhaps some shopping...?)

Looks like you are having an earful time. Perhaps tomorrow's trip will keep you on the level!
